Local MP in pharmacy visit
Ali and Saba Alvei welcomed Liz Twist, MP for Consett and Blaydon, to their pharmacy, Burnopfield Pharmacy, today (28 July). After a quick circuit of the premises Ali and Saba then provided Liz with a whistle stop tour of the ups and downs of running a community pharmacy. Expererienced pharmacists but only recent business owners, Ali and Saba were able to cover a wide range of topics including the challenges of sourcing stock, the satisfaction of increasing pharmacy first referrals and the excitement of launching new weight loss and Men B vaccination services. Liz showed a keen interest asking questions about NHS and private services and the importance of relationship building with the neighbouring practice.
This was Liz’s second pharmacy visit in the last 12 months; Liz is clearly interested in community pharmacy and the wider health agenda. CPDandS would like to thank Liz, Ali and Saba for their time today.
